Department Overview

The Sterile Processing Department at Children's Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis performs multiple functions that can be grouped under the following headings: decontamination; instruments and tray assembly; Preparation, Packaging, and Sterilization; Case Carts Assembly; Ad Hoc Dispensing of Patient Care Supplies; and Equipment Reprocessing, Tracking, and Dispensing.

Position Summary

Incumbent performs tasks associated with the reprocessing of reusable instruments, supplies, and equipment. Performs inventory management tasks involving reprocessed and single use equipment and supplies to all departments. The Sterile Processing Technician is thoroughly versed in surgical instrumentation. Supports the mission of Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in the care and treatment of patients following established customer service, family centered care, resource utilization and infection control standards.

Graduate of Technical College Central Service and/or Surgical Tech program or minimum of one year of hospital Sterile Processing/Central Service and/or Surgical Tech experience within the last 3 years.
Requires sufficient familiarity with surgical instruments to be able to assemble surgical trays. Inventory management experience preferred.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
