ABOUT CHILDREN'S MINNESOTA

Children's Minnesota is the only health system in Minnesota to provide care exclusively to children, from before birth through young adulthood. Children's serves kids throughout the Upper Midwest at two free-standing hospitals, 12 primary and specialty care clinics and six rehabilitation sites. Additionally, Children's is Minnesota's only Level I pediatric trauma center inside a hospital dedicated solely to children. The inpatient mental health unit at Children's hospital in St. Paul is seeking child and adolescent psychiatric fellows who are interested in moonlighting opportunities. The inpatient mental health program offers a multi-disciplinary care team of psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, child life therapists, mental health specialists and music therapists. Care for youth as young as 6 years old and up to 18 years old and still in high school.

POSITION INFORMATION

Weeknight Coverage: $300 weeknight call (5pm - 8am)
Moonlighters function as an attending physician for on-call purposes. Take call from home unless a significant issue warrants that you come in person. Reviewing admissions with charge RN by phone overnight, placing orders in the EMR for admissions until 10pm Responding to pages/call from nursing regarding needs for existing patients
Weekend Coverage: $300 Weekend Night (Friday, 5pm - 8am), $1100 Saturday (8am-8am), $1100 Sunday (8am-8am)
Weekends in person rounds on Saturday/Sunday (approximately 6 hours) All patients on the inpatient psychiatric unit are seen and rounded upon with note authored at least once over the weekend Each weekend day (or holiday) prioritize: Admissions/discharges/patients with defined needs Provide coverage by phone after leaving unit, unless significant issue warrants that you return in person Admission orders after 9:30pm done by ED, prior to then would need to log into EMR and place orders. Consultative support: per your discretion. Goal to support at least by phone, but in person if it aligns with your rounds or if a significant issue warrants support APRN mental health hospitalist rounds daily, after hours the CH hospitalists cover. If you need a medical consultation on the inpatient mental health unit, you must contact the hospitalist and request that support.
Open scheduling available: No minimum or maximum shifts per month. We can work around your schedule as a fellow

Must have an M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree from another country with a current Minnesota Medical License or the ability to obtain one.

Board BE/BC in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatric or BE/BC in Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Current active participation in Child and Adolescent fellowship program

Ability to be successfully credentialed by both Hospital and 3rd Party Payers.

When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay
