Job Summary
Join a mission-driven team in the Environmental Health, Drinking Water Protection (DWP) Operations unit and contribute to protecting, maintaining, and improving the health of all Minnesotans. The purpose of this position is to provide highly accurate and efficient mid- to high-level administrative support for compliance officers, field sanitarians, engineers, management analysts, and management of the Drinking Water Protection section (DWP).
Primary responsibilities include: Finalizing compliance and enforcement documents, generating lab documents for scheduled sampling throughout the state. Analyzing and updating of DWP's database(s) based off information from both DWP staff and public water systems. Scanning and indexing of records, processing incoming engineering plans, and acting as backup for the section central cashier duties. This position will be in-office dependent, but there may eventually be an option for limited (1-2 days per week) of teleworking based on the business needs of the unit and is at supervisory discretion.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Bookkeeping and Accounting experience, ensuring experience and skills sufficient to accurately process electronic/physical payments. Data Entry and Data Management skills sufficient to research, analyze, and enter data from a variety of databases and resources. Customer Service skills sufficient to provide courteous, prompt, and effective services in person, on the phone, and via email. Skilled in using spreadsheet applications, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to enter, compile, store, and retrieve data. Typing/keyboarding skills that are sufficient to perform typing and editing tasks with speed and high accuracy.
Additional minimum qualifications that will be assessed during the interview process: English proficiency, and Word processing skills, sufficient to develop, format, and modify a wide variety of technical correspondence from engineers and compliance officers, with very high accuracy and efficiency (utilizing Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, internal databases, etc.). Experience with both physical and electronic records management. Experience processing payments (cashiering, payroll, or related) to efficiently act as section backup central cashier for incoming payments. Preferred Qualifications Two years of administrative/office setting experience. Educational background in public health or related field, including relevant coursework or degree. Familiarity with drinking water infrastructure. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within small teams. Experience in workgroups, process improvement initiatives, and project management. Background in a government office setting (state, county, or city). Physical Requirements Move or transport boxes up to 25lbs. Work from multiple locations (different floors & areas of office building, potential of limited scheduled telework). Mostly sitting for extended periods, potential for occasional standing for extended periods. Additional Requirements

This employment does not require a valid driver's license, but it does demand travel to the St Paul Freeman building daily for in-office work, which the candidate will be responsible for meeting.
