Job Summary

This announcement will be used to fill multiple permanent full-time, part-time, and intermittent (on-call) vacancies. The shifts may be rotating (day/evening) or overnight.

Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) has opportunities for you to join our team as a State of Minnesota employee. We seek applicants with a positive attitude and strong work ethic, who are ready to share our dedication to the people we serve.

AMRTC is a secure inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness in a large, campus-based setting. The population also includes individuals civilly committed for specialized care, such as competency for criminal court (Rule 20), emergency 48-hour bed holds, and co-occurring mental illness/chemical dependency. Located just 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities metro, this modern facility offers compassionate, person-centered care in a pleasant environment appreciated by patients and employees alike.

As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will deliver high quality direct care and social supports according to treatment plans based on the unique needs of each individual. You will also assist with unit activities, encourage patient personal hygiene, monitor patient status and record observations, and perform data entry for documentation purposes.

These team members provide active treatment and support to patients while maintaining a safe environment, which includes critical thinking, behavioral intervention, and crisis negotiation. Our staff take pride in contributing to patient recovery by ensuring all communication and interaction occurs with the utmost respect, integrity and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify, applicants must maintain current certification as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Minnesota*; AND

Demonstrate their ability to read and understand what they read, write sample reports, do basic arithmetic, and read and interpret charts and graphs, through successful completion of the following:

  1. Comprehensive pre-employment interview;

  2. New employee orientation training program which may include, but is not limited to, medication administration, therapeutic intervention, first aid/CPR, introduction to the disability area in which the employee will be working, review of policies and procedures, specific information on clients, client programs, the Vulnerable Adult Act, data practices, sexual harassment, workplace violence, emergency procedures, client rights and an on-the-job training experience; and

  3. Formal probationary period.

*If you are not currently a Certified Nursing Assistant, you must complete the training and testing and be placed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry within six months of hire in order to maintain your employment. If you successfully complete the program, you will be reimbursed for the cost of the training. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a mental health setting.

  • Training in nonviolent crisis intervention from Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
