Children's Minnesota is seeking a Child and Adolescent Therapist to join The Midwest Children's Resource Center (MCRC) located at Children's Hospital in St. Paul. This impactful role offers a .9 FTE working exclusively with the Runaway Intervention Program (RIP).
MCRC is a hospital-based Child Advocacy Center dedicated to providing medical diagnosis, psychological assessment, and treatment for children and their families affected by physical abuse, sexual abuse, or neglect. We also offer an innovative community-delivered healthcare intervention for runaway youth.
In this role, you will facilitate empowerment groups for participants, develop session topics that promote health, wellness, and resiliency, and ensure the physical and emotional safety of all participants. You will work closely with RIP Advanced Practice Nurses and respond to the acute needs of group participants, referring them to a higher level of care when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and group therapy for youth who have run away from home, focusing on mitigating the traumatic effects of victimization for high-risk teens. A significant portion of this work involves providing mobile therapy/counseling, which typically occurs in the school, community location (coffee shop, library, etc), or the patient's home. Facilitate empowerment groups for runaway youth, promoting behaviors and norms that create opportunities for all group members to participate. Develop session topics responsive to the needs of the group participants. Communicate with guardians of group participants as needed and fulfill all mandated reporter duties related to maltreatment or exploitation disclosed in group sessions. Document the participation of each client in medical records and participate in case consults with RIP staff to develop holistic treatment plans.
Master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or clinical counseling
LICSW, LMFT, or LPCC licensure in the State of Minnesota
Training in trauma-focused therapies.
Experience providing clinical services in both individual and group settings.
Ability to work with teens who have a history of abuse, assault, or exploitation and have run away from home or are at risk for exploitation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.
In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
