January, 2010
Hello!
Welcome 2010. It's about time! There are many signs that 2010 will be economically brighter than 2009. There are, of course, a few detractors but the consensus (according to media reports) is that the worst is over. Many of the companies and non-profits we work with had a pretty rough year. Some companies saw their diversity programs reduced while they had to deal with layoffs, frustration and retention. Many of our friends in the non-profit community said that they were overwhelmed with new clients/members as contribution levels were reduced. We all hope 2010 will show a big turnaround in basic issues that are important to us.
Here are a couple good things I've dug up on diversity:
National Public Radio had a good article on the state of corporate diversity. It shows that there is some work to do. http://bit.ly/8J8hAL
The Linked In Diversity Recruiting Strategy Group has a lot of members in the diversity recruiting industry. I recommend joining it. Currently there is a lively debate of the virtues of using social networking for recruiting. The discussion is at http://bit.ly/57atvL
Warmest Regards,
Colette

Multicultural Leadership
In an expanding global and diverse economy, where a mix of races and culture exists - how well we lead and create opportunities amongst diverse communities' results in how well the community thrives. Leadership is the process in which one person influences others to accomplish an objective and directs the organization to accomplish a common task. It is one of the most relevant and important aspects of the organizational context.
