The engineering supervisor is responsible for supervising program engineering personnel responsible for performing engineering activities to support the NMC sites. Supervision includes work management, technical mentoring, technical review of work products, oversight of engineering program development, implementation, and health monitoring, pre-job briefs for work assignments, performance plan development and review, and coaching associated with engineer performance. Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant is a single unit boiling water reactor, located about three miles northwest of Monticello, MN, and 40 miles northwest of the Twin Cities on the banks of the Mississippi River. . Essential Responsibilities - Provide technical and personnel leadership and coaching to the engineering staff. This includes mentoring of new personnel and existing personnel to new technologies. Establishing and enforcing quality expectations for engineering products such as calculations, operability reviews, safety reviews, work planning, design activities, specification development, and corrective action program related activities. - Develop schedules, utilize work management tools, make assignments for engineering related activities to support site and fleet goals. - Represent the engineering department in plant meetings and industry/fleet activities. Qualifications Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering required, prefer a nuclear engineer (BS in nuclear engineering), plus 10 years of experience in fuel design and/or reactor engineering. Must have significant experience with evaluating and solving engineering issues; professional engineering certification is preferred; management training or education preferred. A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).
