What do we need:

The Systems Change Senior Manager role will work with the CEO to lead People Serving People's movement work, helping build and support campaigns that advance equity for communities impacted by housing insecurity and homelessness. The Systems Change Senior Manager will work to strengthen People Serving People's presence in community-building efforts and manage coalitions while also building relationships with and elevating the voices of families. The Systems Change Senior Manager will have a passion for empowering those with lived experience and the ability to manage multiple priorities to create systems change.

 

Responsibilities:

60%: Leading the organization's policy, advocacy, and systems change work

  • Supporting the CEO in policy and advocacy efforts
  • Lead the development of organizing materials to support annual legislative proposals.
  • Working with partners to understand key opportunities and barriers and developing and executing advocacy campaigns grounded in foster care community needs.
  • Keeping partners informed of key policy issues to advance legislation, implement policy, and support their ongoing engagement in advocacy.
  • Implement and incorporate formative and participatory evaluation of People Serving People's Guest Advisory Council.

20%: Partnering with families and supporting our leadership development programs

  • Supervising the Community Engagement Manager to coordinate the Guest Advisory Council through collaborative approaches to identify and center their vision at the core of our movement-building
  • Develop materials to support the Guest Advisory Council's vision of change, grounded in the needs of the Minnesota homeless community, relevant research, and understanding of the advocacy landscape.

20%: Building a coalition of family homeless shelters

  • Organizing homeless shelters, groups, and existing coalitions supporting families to harness collective power to change the Minnesota housing landscape
  • Working with partners to understand key opportunities and barriers and developing and executing advocacy campaigns grounded in homeless families' community needs
  • Assisting in the development of strategic campaigns to drive meaningful change
  • Keeping partners informed of key policy issues to advance legislation, implement policy, and support their ongoing engagement in advocacy

 

Pay and Benefits:

  • $85,000 annually
  • Exempt, Full-Time, Monday – Friday, Flexible Schedule

Requirements:

  • Strong relationship-building skills with demonstrated experience working in diverse communities
  • Background with project management or advancing issue-advocacy campaigns
  • Strong communication skills, including comfort with public speaking and strong writing skills, with the ability to convey accurate, persuasive messages to multiple audiences
  • Experience facilitating meetings and/or organizing groups around a common goal
  • Familiarity with local housing and homelessness landscape through work in and/or advocacy in Minnesota and particularly the Twin Cities Region
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, self-direct and prioritize among competing goals, and to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Have lived experience with homelessness and/or experience with housing insecurity
  • Demonstrate commitment to People Serving People's core values, for example, the philosophy of those with lived experience as leaders in deciding and advancing their own priority issues and passion for working with our communities
  • Have an understanding of racial, LGBTQ2S+, disability, and gender equity, and have an appreciation for how these identities intersect and impact people's lives
  • 8+ years of experience in organizing, advocacy, or policy development
